This week has been full of events for myself and my lovely sisters to spend some time giving back to the community and raising money to support the wonderful work that the Ronald McDonald House Charities does.
The week started off with a pie baking contest that allowed all of the other sorority and fraternity chapters to bake a pie to submit for judging in order to win points, which are used to determine who wins a particular philanthropy week. While another chapter can win our philanthropy event, the true winners are the families of severely ill or injured children at Blank Children’s Hospital that are supported by the money and donations that we give as a result of our philanthropy week.
Seeing as St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, I decided to do a little digging and found this connection between RMHC and the shamrock shake that is a fan favorite at McDonald’s.
Through the week, we have been collecting pop tabs to support the RMHC. Last night was my favorite night of our philanthropy week as all of the sororities and fraternities serenaded us with Alpha Delta Pi inspired renditions of popular songs. On Saturday we will be having a large 3 on 3 basketball tournament where the different sororities and fraternities will face off to see who is king of the court. While our event is still fairly small, I am always impressed with the enthusiastic support from other chapters. Here is a look at one very large philanthropy week thrown by a sorority, and the 11 best philanthropy events to date.
